Anxious? Kick these foods + things we are finding JOY in!

When anxiety hits, it's a self perpetuating zone.

Anxious about being anxious, how to stop being anxious and anxiety around our actual situation - WOAH.

At the moment the world is in a pretty anxious state on the whole, there are a lot of vibes being thrown around and alot of changes we are all adapting to at various times.

Control is what I find myself searching for, ways in which to feel I am in charge (okay this is a large debate but lets not get existential right now, I am talking in control of my day to day habits/reactions).

Where can we make little changes in our Daily. Habits to reduce our anxiety and stress?
As it happens, diet is one of those places.

While the list below feels quite standard in terms of terrible things to eat, I think its an interesting reminder that whatever we are putting into or on our body has effect, whether emotional/mental or physical.

We have added few extra things that are keeping us a touch more chill in the tough days.. and reasons why our Essential Radience spirulina needs to be in the mix.

Foods to Avoid If You Are Depressed or Anxious

Soda
Candy
Fast food of all kinds
Sugary foods like pastries, cookies, ice cream, etc.
White bread
White rice
Foods made from white flour like most pasta (choose whole wheat, brown rice or quinoa pasta instead)
Products with soy in them (organic tofu, tempeh and edamame are ok in moderation)
Refined oils (hydrogenated oils, soybean oil, canola oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, sunflower oil, etc.)
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). Also goes by the names: hydrolyzed vegetable protein and yeast extract and can be hidden in natural flavorings

Depression and Spirulina - How does it help?

Our Essential Radience Spirulina is a source of tryptophan.
Tryptophan is an amino acid that supports serotonin production. Serotonin plays an important role in mental health.
People with certain mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, may have reduced levels of serotonin which when bolstered with spirulina can help to bring those levels up in a natural way.

We recommend starting with two capsules per day and moving to four per day after your first week to allow the gut time to adjust to detoxification process.

THINGS WE ARE FINDING JOY IN

Classical music - specifically Alexis Ffrench
This is the best after work relaxation vibe, put it on and make a cup of tea while you're getting dinner ready, not only is it scientifically proven to reduce stress you will feel like an intelligent professor.

Peppermint tea
While always a household favourite, this tea is helping to get extra glasses of water in without noticing, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Jay Shetty - On Purpose
Although I spend alot of time attempting to decipher Jay Shetty's accent and what combination of languages or global living would produce said accent, the podcast is filled with people speaking about their lives and things that they use to encourage their purpose or passion in a relaxed and open way that gives you a feeling of companionship while being informative and inspiring.

If all else fails. Five deep breaths, it never ceases to be annoyingly simple/helpful.
